Presentation at Half-Earth Day 2023

Luke Kelly was invited to speak at Half-Earth Day 2023, held in Montreal, Canada.

Hosted by the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, Half-Earth Day brings together people from around the world and across disciplines to share their unique perspectives on how to ensure the health of the planet for future generations.

Luke spoke about how human activities are reshaping patterns of fire across the planet, and opportunities for applying knowledge and practice of fire to benefit people and nature. He also shared ideas with a panel led by Academy Award-winning director Louis Psihoyos and including Eliot McIntire, Research Scientist at the Canadian Forest Service, and Sam Hunter, Natural Resources Monitor and member of the Weenusk First Nation.

The event featured distinguished scientists, conservationists, thinkers, educators, businesses and community activists and leaders working to conserve global biodiversity.

A video of the session on wildfires, biodiversity, and people – and how to prepare for things to come – is available below.
